Consumed by the Blogosphere

I have a new blog on the side called blogonaut where I'm posting directly into the “BIT320 Distributed Learning Blogosphere”. We're under way, and students have really started to contribute. Of course, some are contributing more than others. I seem able to keep up a constant stream of posts. I'm just less inhibited in that blogosphere.

The strategy I had adopted here was to put some thought into the articles. I wonder if that really works for blogging. I think blogging is really more of an informal communication medium, with less fully structured thoughts tending to take the fore.

And, I'm starting to think that is a good thing. I'm even going to give a presentation on it at Wayne State University, October 1, and Bentley College, October 8. What I notice with students is that it gives people a chance to see their ideas and participate in them. For the most part, I think the ensuing conversations help the students.
